Exposing the Propaganda Campaign

Visit the Justice Bashers Blog.
Read about the latest attacks on our clients and our profession.

We are committed to exposing groups that take issue with the good work done by trial attorneys on behalf of their clients and the American system of justice. See first hand what the Chamber of Commerce and others are doing through mouthpiece organizations like The Institute for Legal Reform, Faces of Lawsuit Abuse and many others. We are working on making this page interactive, but in the meantime please let us know if you've seen something we should add to this page.

Institute for Legal Reform

Right from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the goal of the Institute is "to neutralize plaintiff trial lawyers' excessive influence over the legal and political systems." A recent Institute e-mail missive implies that trial attorneys are supporting terrorists (see below).

Faces of Lawsuit Abuse

Another Chamber favorite used to create the illusion that the civil justice system is flooded with absurd lawsuits. Features stories and videos of "lawsuit abuse victims."

American Justice Partnership

This site was created by the co-founder of Home Depot. They claim they are “the legal reform group that stands up to greedy trial attorneys.”

Terrorists and Trial Lawyers?

Excerpts from a recent Chamber-backed email campaign:

The attempted Times Square bombing was an all-too-stark reminder for New Yorkers that the threat of terrorism is still very much real. But a bill is now moving in Congress that would allow anyone -- including accused terrorists -- to file an implausible lawsuit against high-ranking American officials or American employers. This must not happen...

As the Wall Street Journal reported recently, this legislation "would make it easier for terrorists to sue military and federal law-enforcement officials." Trial lawyers want to make it easier for terrorists to sue the men and women of our military? ...

Not only would it allow meritless lawsuits against soldiers and government officials -- it also would open up American employers to a new wave of litigation, just as they're recovering from the economic downturn. Right now, America needs more jobs, not more lawsuits...

This is a clear and present danger, and we need Congress to hear your voices
loud and clear.
