5 Signs It’s Time to Outsource Your Law Firm’s Social Media

In today’s competitive legal industry, social media marketing is more important than ever. That doesn’t make it easy, however. As countless lawyers can attest, maintaining an effective social media presence takes plenty of effort.

Most attorneys start out managing their own profiles. But as your firm grows, you may need to bring in a little outside help. In this post, we’re going to look at five signs that it’s time to outsource your law firm’s social media.

1. You Don’t Have the Time

One of the hardest parts of any digital marketing campaign is finding the time. Operating a law firm will keep you busy enough without adding another hassle to worry about.

If you’re struggling to make time for your social media, it may be time to let someone else handle the headaches. By outsourcing your social media, you can devote your full attention to helping your clients.

2. You Don’t “Get” Social Media

Everyone has their personal strengths. Just because you’re a skilled lawyer doesn’t mean you’re automatically a digital marketing guru. Social media requires its own unique skill set, and if that isn’t your forte, there’s no need to try and force it. You can always get the expertise you need from someone who specializes in social media.

3. You Don’t Enjoy Social Media

Even if you feel that you have a good grasp on the fundamentals of social media marketing, you may still find it mind-numbingly boring. Lots of people do.

That attitude can spell doom for your firm’s online reputation. Transparency and authenticity are key to building trust with your audience. If social media is an irritating chore for you, your entire brand will be built on a false foundation.

A social media expert won’t have to pretend. When someone has made social media their career, it’s a safe bet that they love it. That passion will shine through as they create valuable content and engage with your audience.

4. You’re Missing Messages

One of the benefits of social media is that it makes it easy for prospects to discover your firm and contact you directly. That’s a reasonable outcome to expect, too. According to a 2020 study from the American Bar Association, roughly a third of attorneys who use social media reported that they’ve gotten new clients as a result. Other studies have shown that:

  • 38% of prospects hoping to hire an attorney use the internet to find them
  • 96% of prospects who need legal advice search for it on Google

These leads can be priceless for a growing firm. If you aren’t responding to questions or comments in a timely fashion, those leads will move on to someone who will. Having a reputation for poor communication won’t do any favors for your brand, either.

Having someone on hand with the availability to engage your audience as needed can make all the difference. (Plus, they can filter out the “leads” that aren’t worth your time.)

5. You’re Not Getting Results

Sometimes it isn’t clear why your law firm’s social media strategy isn’t getting results. You have the time for social media, you enjoy it, you think you’re doing all the right things—and you still aren’t seeing a return on investment. This can be deeply frustrating and discouraging.

Sometimes, all it takes is an outside perspective. A social media professional can pinpoint what’s missing and optimize your strategy for the best results.
