How to Attract More Referrals for Your Law Firm

Referrals have always been one of the best ways for law firms to reach new clients. That’s as true today as it ever was. In fact, in the digital age, the internet has only made it easier to connect with referral partners.

So, how can you take advantage of these new opportunities for reliable leads? Here’s how to attract more referrals for your firm.

1. Provide Exceptional Service for Your Clients

The first step to getting more referrals is to establish a reputation as a skilled and trustworthy expert in your field. Of course, you should be doing this anyway. But aside from ethical considerations, your reputation can go a long way to bringing in new clients.

By providing top-tier service for your current clients, you can make it much more likely that they will refer their friends and family members to you. A strong reputation will also give other professionals a reason to refer their clients and customers to you.

One of the best ways to create a visible reputation is by managing your Google reviews effectively. This means inviting positive reviews from clients and, when necessary, removing negative reviews that violate Google’s policies.

2.  Build Relationships with Other Professionals

Client referrals are great, but they can be unpredictable. You can’t rely on them having someone in their life they can send your way. For reliable referrals, you’ll need to find fellow professionals who can serve as referral partners.

These may be other attorneys, perhaps in a different niche. But don’t be afraid to look in other industries for referral partners, as well.

For example, if you specialize in estate planning or business law, you might find that bankers, CPAs, and financial advisors could provide you with a steady stream of referrals. A personal injury attorney might profit from partnering up with physicians.

Think about what professionals are likely to engage with your ideal client regularly. Then, go to local networking events or reach out online to start making valuable connections.

3. Use Social Media and Email to Stay Top-of-Mind with Referrers

Connecting with other professionals is an important starting point to driving more referrals, but it doesn’t end there. To get the most out of those connections, you have to stay top-of-mind with potential referrers.

The best way to do that is through social media and email.

Using social media, you can engage with referral partners directly, share valuable content, and establish yourself as an authority in your niche. Plus, social media is always a great way to showcase your glowing reviews and testimonials.

There are a variety of platforms to choose from, such as:

  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • YouTube

Each has its own specialties, and one may help you cater to a certain audience more than another. When looking for referral partners among fellow professionals, LinkedIn is often especially useful.

Email is another great way you keep in touch with clients and referrers. While social media is ideal for casting a wide net, email allows you to be more private and direct.

For example, if your firm doesn’t already have a regular email newsletter, this would be a great time to start. A newsletter will let you speak to your target audience and strengthen your brand identity.

By using the tools the internet has provided for attorney online marketing, you can find the right people and drive the referrals your firm needs.

How About a Little Help?

Using these tips, you can attract more referrals and grow your firm. However, as a busy professional, you may have better uses for your time than posting on social media or sending out newsletters.
